Estudio experimental de la dispersión de semillas. Parte II: caracterización del vuelo de las semillas.

Abstract

Por la necesidad de predecir cómo se comportan las especies vegetales cuyo habitat son los olivares y otros campos de cultivo, este trabajo trata de, por primera vez, analizar y obtener las primeras conclusiones basadas en ensayos experimentales sobre el desprendimiento y vuelo inicial de tres de las especies invasoras más conocida: la Conyza canadensis, Urtica dioica y Thymus vulgaris. Se medirá la velocidad de vuelo, el ángulo de desprendimiento y la distancia de dispersión en un túnel de viento horizontal y la velocidad terminal en un túnel vertical. Se concluirá, una vez obtenidos todos los datos, cómo éstos dependen del peso y características físicas de las diásporas de las tres especies.

Due to the need to predict the behaviour of the plants whose habitat are the olive groves and other cultivated fields, this work tries for the first time to analyze the flight of the seeds and to obtain the first conclusions based on experimental tests of the release and initial flight of three of the best-known invasive species: Conyza canadensis, Urtica dioica and Thymus vulgaris. Flight speed, release angle and dispersal distance will be measured in a horizontal wind tunnel, while the terminal velocity will be measured in a vertical tunnel. Once all the data is obtained, it will be concluded how these species dispersal depends on the weight and physical characteristics of their seeds.
