This research has focused on analyzing the economic, social, and environmental costs and benefits of tourism activity in Ibiza, in its development and stagnation phase according to Butler's CVDT theory (1980). Proposing for the development phase, a documentary investigation, while for the stagnation phase, an analysis of the latest IBESTAT data to characterize tourism demand; and gross per capita income and employment in the tourism sector, to determine the economic benefit. As well as, an analysis of the HPI figures and the supply and consumption of drinking water, to know the environmental impact. Finally, through a survey, we sought to know the current perception of residents regarding tourist activity. Determining the importance and dependence of tourism in the island economy, the perception of its residents that tourist massification has damaged the environment and the continuity of their culture, and the need to break with seasonality, take care of urban development and promote respectful and sustainable tourism.
