To report San Hermenegildo's literary configuration after the immediate period of his canonization (1585) is the main objective of this B.A. Thesis. In order to achieve this aiml, we will use the play, that belongs to the Jesuitic theatre, called Tragedia de San Hermenegildo (released in Seville in January of 1591) as object of study. Thanks to this text, generally considered by the critics as the most important Spanish drama of the 16th century, the visigothic prince will be considered as an habitual reference for our plastic arts and literature, coming out from the shadows of history.
