In this paper I am going to develop a comparative study based on the most prominent differences between the Spanish and the French phonetic and phonological systems to provide the main difficulties that French-speaking students have to face when they are learning Spanish. To carry on this study, I will concentrate on vowels and consonants from both languages and how they differ ones from the others. For example, the rhotic Spanish consonant [r], which does not exist in French, but also vowels and consonants that do not exist in the Spanish language and I will also comment on suprasegmental features of both languages. To carry out this study, I will rely on some recordings of French students of the Spanish language.
