Del balneario romano al balneario moderno, un patrimonio cultural y natural de Andalucía

Abstract

[ES]En las últimas décadas, con la aparición de los Spa, se ha producido un incremento del interés por el concepto y estudio de los balnearios y la explotación de las aguas mineromedicinales en la península Ibérica desde distintas perspectivas. En el territorio andaluz se han realizado trabajos aislados de algunos casos específicos referidos a la arquitectura y funcionalidad de los mismos, y se conocen distintos estudios de aguas curativas o mineromedicinales en diferentes zonas. Sin embargo, se echa en falta trabajos de síntesis que aúnen los elementos naturales, históricos, artísticos y culturales que encierran este fenómeno. Nuestra intención a la hora de elegir a los balnearios como punto de investigación es cubrir ese vacío existente en el panorama andaluz, dándole al fenómeno balneario un enfoque novedoso, más complejo y multifactorial (material, ideológico y paisajístico), que permita obtener una percepción más profunda y acabada del tema y entender así también, el papel desempeñado por los balnearios en la sociedad antigua y moderna (desde su origen en época romana hasta la actualidad), constituyendo un patrimonio material en peligro, digno de conservación. Para ello utilizaremos todas las fuentes disponibles a nuestro alcance, como los textos antiguos, la arqueología, la toponimia, la epigrafía y la umismática y la bibliografía específica.

[EN]In the last decades, with the appearance of the Spa, there has been an increase in interest in the concept and study of spas and the exploitation of mineral-medicinal waters in the Iberian peninsula from different perspectives. In the Andalusian territory there have been isolated works of some specific cases referring to the architecture and functionality of the same, and different studies of curative or mineral-medicinal waters in different zones are known. However, there is a lack of synthesis work that combines the natural, historical, artistic and cultural elements that enclose this phenomenon. Our intention in choosing spas as a research point is to fill that gap in the Andalusian panorama, giving the spa phenomenon a novel, more complex and multifactorial (material, ideological and landscape) approach that allows us to obtain a better perception Deep and finished the subject and to understand also the role played by spas in ancient and modern society (from its origin in Roman times to the present), constituting a material heritage in danger, worthy of conservation. For this we will use all available sources within our reach, such as ancient texts, archeology, toponymy, epigraphy and numismatics and specific bibliography.
