[EN]The present academic work exposes a general Outlook about the current approaches used in the second languages teaching. The constant methodological changes looking for an ideal method have (determined/defined) the history of the second languages teaching. The variety of reference books is countless and the teacher, who is the leader of the teaching-learning process, must know about the different “tools” which are being offered to him or her in order to know if they are suitable for the study objectives which he has to teach and if the proposed methodology is the correct one to achieve that aim. After setting the theoretical bases of our academic work and, using as our study basis the Applied Linguistics, a brief journey along the different models of data analysis in the second language acquisition will be done to go through the different methods and approaches related to the second languages teaching-learning. Therefore, we focus our attention on some Spanish reference books that answer to different methods although we take as basis the communicative approach. For this reason, it is important to identify the features of each of them, to verify its support degree to the considered methodology, and the existence of changes if there were and the achievement degree of the considered objectives. Key words: methodology, second languages acquisition, approach, applied linguistics
