conocer el escenario del destino, a través de toda la información recogida (análisis, estadísticas;

[EN]Smart Destinations aim to differentiate from the traditional destinations by the current, highly competitive, tourism industry, whose offers are very similar to each other. A seaside destination like Roquetas de Mar, even affected by seasonality and negative effects of mass tourism, could benefit from being part of the Segittur DTI Network, and make the difference from other established turist destinations. Method: Elaboration of a diagnosis as a previous analysis to investigate the destination background, through the specific data collected (analysis, statistics, etc.) with the purpose of developing strategic planning, as a second step. This diagnosis was conducted during two months of training at the Municipality of Roquetas de Mar (Andalusia), Departement of Tourism, Trade and Beaches. Results: The collected data can be a starting point for further investigation. Conclusions: A collaboration among different professionals in their respective areas could allow to elaborate an exhaustive diagnosis; moreover, the idea of managing tourism as a network would result in a team work: thus the stakeholders should conceive their destination as a common objective, in order to promote sustainable tourism. Keywords: Smart Destinations | Sustainability | Information and Communication Technologies | Innovation | Accessibility
