Variación natural en el área foliar específica (SLA) de olivo: efectos genéticos y ambientales

Abstract

[ES] El área foliar específica o SLA es un rasgo funcional de las plantas que permite la realización de estimaciones del área foliar en función de su masa y caracterizar a las especies y ejemplares de plantas y su rendimiento en la productividad de los ecosistemas. Se determinó el área foliar específica en un número de hojas pertenecientes a distintos olivos que, a su vez, pertenecían a distintas fincas olivareras, y se relacionó con las diversas variables climáticas y geográficas a las que está sometida cada finca. Los resultandos mostraron variación en el área foliar entre las distintas fincas y también entre plantas dentro de la misma finca, pero no se aprecia variación entre hojas dentro de una misma planta. Además, se aprecia una relación entre el SLA y la latitud. La relación del SLA con una componente geográfica sugiere que dicha variación puede ser en respuesta adaptativa o plástica a las condiciones locales inducida por la latitud, si bien no a las condiciones climáticas.

[EN] The specific leaf area or SLA is a functional feature of plants which allows us the perform of estimations in the leaf area depending on its bulk and characterize the species and plant specimens and their yield in the productivity of ecosystems. The specific leaf area was determined by a number of leaves belonging to different olive trees which, in turn, belonged at different olives farms, and related to the various climatic and geographical variables to which each farm is subject. The results showed the variation in the leaf area between the different farms and also between the plants in the same farm, in contrast there isn't variation between leaves in the same plant. In addition, it can be appreciated the relation between SLA and latitude. The relationship of the SLA with a geographical component suggests that such variation may be in adaptive or plastic response to local conditions induced by latitude, although not to climatic conditions.
