Activities-specific Balance Scale, p=0.224) ni para la movilidad funcional (prueba Timed-Up and Go, p=0.336).
[EN] The aim of this study was to know the relationship between the risk of sarcopenia and risk factors for falls in a population of Spanish postmenopausal women. It´s a cross-sectional study (n=135) in which a bivariate correlation was made between risk factors for falls, the risk for sarcopenia and the possible influence of covariates in this relationship. Then, the participants were classified, using the SARC-F questionnaire, according to their high (n=18) or low (n=117) risk of sarcopenia and the differences by group were analyzed, adjusting for confounding factors. Participants at high risk of sarcopenia showed higher values in the number of falls in the last year (p<0.001), fear of falling, (Falls-Efficacy Scale-International, p=0.021) and fatigue (Fatigue Severity Scale, p=0.008). No significant differences were found regarding confidence in balance (Activitiesspecific Balance Scale, p=0.224) nor for functional mobility (Timed-Up and Go test, p=0.336). Therefore, in postmenopausal women, a high risk of sarcopenia is associated with worse results regarding risk factors for falls. KEY WORDS: Postmenopause, Sarcopenia, Balance confidence, Fatigue, Fear of falling, Fall risk.
