Abstract

Primeramente, será necesario que pongamos en situación a nuestro alumnado de cómo se encuentra la ciudad en la que se desarrollará la temática de nuestro trabajo. Úbeda pertenece a la provincia de Jaén en Andalucía, y es considerada capital de la comarca de La Loma, situada en el valle del Guadalquivir, frente a Sierra Mágina. Úbeda fue declarada Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad junto a su vecina Baeza por la Unesco el 3 de julio de 2003. El gentilicio utilizado es ubetense. Su población actual es de 34.345 habitantes (2019). A día de hoy, la ciudad vive principalmente del sector terciario, el comercio y la administración que ocupa el 49% de la población activa. No obstante, la agricultura tiene un fuerte peso, cuyo eje central es en relación al olivar, correspondiente a más de un 50% de la población. Sabiendo el contexto actual en que podemos encontrar la conocida como “ciudad de los cerros”, ya podemos estudiar su población desde el siglo XVI hasta el XVIII. En base a la importancia y localización a nivel provincial y nacional, podremos realizar un seguimiento de las gentes de Úbeda y observar así las diferencias generacionales en lo que al crecimiento se refiere. A lo largo de todo este proceso de aprendizaje, buscaremos que el alumnado asimile que no todo siempre ha sido como lo ha conocido. Que sepa la importancia de cómo determinados fenómenos pueden influir en la supervivencia de las personas y, consecuentemente, cómo puede afectar al funcionamiento de la ciudad. Lograremos, por tanto, acercar dramas humanos y sociales que todavía se siguen viviendo en otros puntos del mundo y para nuestro alumnado queda lejano.

Firstly, it will be necessary to put our students in the position of how the city in which the theme of our work will be developed is located. Úbeda belongs to the province of Jaén in Andalusia, and is considered the capital of the region of La Loma, located in the valley of Guadalquivir, opposite Sierra Mágina. Úbeda was declared a World Heritage Site with its neighbour Baeza by Unesco on 3 July 2003. The people used is ubetense. Its current population is 34,345 inhabitants (2019). Today, the city lives mainly in the tertiary sector, commerce and administration, which accounts for 49 per cent of the active population. However, agriculture has a strong influence, the central axis of which is in relation to the olive grove, corresponding to more than 50% of the population. Knowing the current context in which we can find the so-called "city of the hills", we can already study its population from the 16th to the 18th century. Based on the importance and location at provincial and national level, we will be able to monitor the people of Úbeda and thus observe the generational differences in terms of growth. Throughout this learning process, we will look for students to assimilate that not everything has always been as they have known it. To know the importance of how certain phenomena can influence the survival of people and, consequently, how they can affect the functioning of the city. We will therefore be able to bring together human and social dramas that are still being lived in other parts of the world and for our students it is far away.
