(ES) Según diferentes organismos (entre ellos la OMS y el INE), en el año 2050, España será uno
de los países más envejecidos del mundo ya que más del 40% de su población tendrá para entonces
60 años, lo cual corresponde casi con el doble del porcentaje actual (23,4%). Esto se debe en gran
medida al aumento de la calidad de vida, los avances médicos y tecnológicos y al progresivo
descenso de la natalidad entre la población. Por tanto, aquellas enfermedades típicas de las personas
mayores dispararán su incidencia y se convertirán en un verdadero problema a nivel internacional.
(EN) According to different organizations (including the WHO and the INE), in the year 2050, Spain will be one of the oldest countries in the world since more than 40% of its population will be 60 years old by then, which corresponds to almost double of the current percentage (23.4%). This is largely due to the increase in quality of life, medical and technological advances and the progressive decline in the birth rate among the population. Therefore, those typical diseases of the elderly will trigger their incidence and will become a real problem at an international level.
