Edgar Allan Poe (1809 - 1849) was an American short-story writer and poet who is known to be one of the best gothic literature authors. His works deal with mystery, the macabre, romanticism, etc. Some of his most popular works are “The Gold-Bug” (1943), “The Raven” (1845) and “The Cask of Amontillado” (1846). These stories have been analyzed exhaustively, however, other of his lesser-known tales should be given more consideration. In this Final Degree Project, different comic adaptations of “Berenice” (1835) will be analyzed and compared with the original short story in order to show that even his less acknowledged stories are so exceptional that they have been adapted several times and even taken as an influence for movie filming. The selection for the analyses includes 10 adaptations.
