THE INFLUENCE OF THE REAL ENVIRONMENT AND A GOOD MOTIVATION IN THE TEACHING OF SOCIAL STUDIES CONTENTS FOR ECUADORIAN STUDENTS OF 8TH GRADE

[ES] Dentro de la Enseñanza de Inglés como segunda lengua se imparten conocimientos de materias con contenidos en Inglés, entre ellas Ciencias Sociales, la misma que se socializa con textos extranjeros los cuales son diseñados de acuerdo a la cultura, religión, costumbres, lugares y tradiciones extranjeras lo que dificulta el aprendizaje en los estudiantes ya que deben memorizar nombres de lugares y sitios geográficos que nunca han escuchado antes y que probablemente no visitarán ni aplicarán a futuro, grado de dificultad que los desmotiva a continuar aprendiendo, razón por la cual se propone el diseño de material didáctico que incluya lugares, fechas, costumbres y tradiciones de nuestro país lo que facilitará el aprendizaje porque los estudiantes podrán relacionar sus experiencias previas con los contenidos a estudiar, logrando despertar su interés de aprender ya que dicha información podrá ser aplicada a futuro en sus estudios universitarios y en el campo laboral.
[EN] With the purpose to improve the Ecuadorian students¨ level of English some schools implemented the teaching of specific subjects in English, like Social Studies, but its contents are taught by following foreign textbooks which include costumes, traditions, beliefs, holidays music, fashion about the country where the material was designed, words that are difficult to learn because the students have not heard about them before and probably they will not apply these words in the future, words that are unknown and difficult to pronounce and for these reasons the students do not feel the desire to continue in the process because of the difficulties they have to face. The proposal to overcome these barriers would be to design the materials accordance with the Ecuadorian traditions, costumes, sites which enable students to relate what they have already lived, visited, experienced with the English contents of the subject, moreover if these contents could be applied in their future lives.
