Most of the genome is composed of genes that do not translate into proteins but are transcribed. These transcripts make up the so-called non-coding RNA group, which are involved and have a fundamental role in the regulation of different cellular processes. This group is subdivided according to their size and in this study we focus on microRNAs (22-24 nucleotides) and lncRNAs (>200 nucleotides). In recent decades much progress has been made in the study of these molecules and in this work we are reviewing the microRNAs and lncRNAs that are involved in cardiovascular development. It is already becoming clear that these RNAs have great regulatory and regenerative power on the heart and if progress is made in research in this field it could be possible to cure various cardiovascular diseases.
