Resumen
Este trabajo se basa en el estudio y análisis de las propiedades mecánicas de los materiales compuestos reforzados con
fibra de vidrio. En concreto, se centra en la innovadora técnica de mejora de propiedades conocida como Stitching,
consistente en coser las fibras de vidrio para aumentar la resistencia del material. Se comparan resultados entre
materiales compuestos con y sin Stitching y se confirma que el Stitching aporta un incremento considerable en la
resistencia del material, pero también un incremento en su fragilidad, lo cual podría ser una desventaja. Las conclusiones
halladas en los ensayos y cálculos realizados se sintetizan en que, dependiendo de la función del material, la técnica de
Stitching será factible o no.
This work is based on the study and analysis of the mechanical properties of composite materials reinforced with fiberglass. Specially, it is focused on the innovative technique about mechanical properties improvement known as Stitching, which consists in stitching the fiberglass in order to increase de material resistance. Comparing the results between de composites with Stitching and no Stitching, it is confirmed that this new technique contributes a considerable increase in the resistance, but it also makes the material more fragile, which could be a disadvantage. The conclusions found in the tests and calculations carried out are synthesized in that, depending on the function of the material, the Stitching technique will be feasible or not.
