[ES] El personaje de la mujer astuta y con mal carácter ha sido recurrente en la historia de la literatura. The Taming of the
Shrew se considera un ejemplo literario de este tema. Este trabajo de master es un intento de analizar como se
representa la virtud femenina en The Taming of the Shrew y como la falta de virtud femenina afectaba el
matrimonio y la reputación de los personajes. Además, este trabajo estudia hasta qué punto esta obra se puede
considerar moral, enseñando una lección a la audiencia femenina de la época ya que desde el momento en que
Kate alcanza la virtud convirtiéndose en una esposa obediente, también empieza a encajar en los roles impuestos
por la sociedad.
[EN] The character of the shrewd and bad-tempered woman has been a recurrent one through the history of literature. The Taming of the Shrew is considered an example of literature on this topic. This master ́s dissertation is an attempt to analyse how female virtue is represented in The Taming of the Shrew and how the female lack of virtue it affected the marriage and social reputation of the characters. In addition, the paper studies to what extent the play could be considered a moral one with a lesson for the female audience for since the moment in which Katherine reaches virtue by becoming an obedient wife she also starts to fit in the roles imposed by society.
