[EN] Travel reports are a literary typology in which travellers depict the cultural heritage found in their anecdotal tour motivated by their pursuit of knowledge. Their descriptions about the image of an item of national heritage constitutes a reliable source of research as far as History and Art are concerned. La Catedral de la Asunción is one of the most impressive icons in Jaén, becoming its landmark. Jaén has been regarded as a crossing place where travellers randomly rested until their next stop and wrote about its cathedral as an architectural wealth and a source of artistic items. This research aims to analyse these travel reports in order to reach the image of the cathedral transmitted through literature, compiles the information about its building construction, architects, different spaces and heritage items and promotes these historic artistic testimonies as a source for the proposal of a new cultural route.
