ALTERANDO TUS HORMONAS. DISRUPTORES ENDOCRINOS

Abstract

[ES]La aparición de nuevas moléculas químicas a lo largo del siglo XX está ligada al gran avance industrial y tecnológico. Las investigaciones actuales relacionan algunos de estos compuestos químicos, considerados por los científicos como disruptores endocrinos, con diversas enfermedades cardiovasculares, cáncer o infertilidad, lo que ha originado que diversas autoridades muestren su preocupación por la regulación y control de este tipo de sustancias. Como ciudadanos del futuro, el alumnado de Educación Secundaria Obligatoria debe conocer la existencia de estos compuestos químicos y sus efectos, con objeto de evaluar riesgos y reducir la exposición a los mismos. Por ello, en esta unidad didáctica se trabajará el concepto de disruptor endocrino, su presencia en productos de nuestro entorno y sus posibles consecuencias para la salud, a través de una metodología de Aprendizaje-Servicio con un proyecto de utilidad no sólo para el centro escolar sino también para su entorno más cercano. Es decir, con esta unidad didáctica se persigue la alfabetización científica de los/as alumnos/as y su entorno, dotándoles de herramientas que les permitan desarrollar un pensamiento crítico ante esta nueva situación de contaminación y salud ambiental. Current research links some of these chemical compounds, considered by scientists as endocrine disruptors, with cardiovascular diseases, cancer or infertility. Therefore, some authorities are concerned about the regulation and control of these substances. As citizens of the future, Secondary Education students must know these chemical compounds, where they are found and how they can affect the organism, with the aim of promoting awareness of their risks and contributing to reducing their exposure to them. In this didactic unit, the students will learn the concept of endocrine disruptor, its presence in

products of our daily life and its possible consequences for health, through a Service- Learning strategy by way of a project that has both learning and community action

goals. With this didactic unit we intend to achieve the scientific literacy of the students and their community, providing them with tools that allow them to develop a critical thinking about this new situation of pollution and environmental health.
