The sculpture, in this case, the religious one, has not only served for the ornamentation of a sacred and spiritual interior, but its primary function has contributed, especially, to didactics, to the doctrinal teaching of the Spanish people, which in centuries past was mostly illiterate. Sculpture in our country, from the Romanesque to the baroque style, with different norms and characteristics, has contributed to this visual, narrative and theatrical teaching. In short, a visual preaching throughout the middle ages and the modern age.
