Resumen
[ES] Como consecuencia de la desaparición de los humedales naturales, la idea de que las
balsas de riego puedan actuar como refugio de biodiversidad alternativo ha ido
cobrando cada vez más importancia. En este estudio bibliográfico, se ha revisado la
literatura en la que se describe el potencial de estas balsas como hábitat. Esta revisión
se ha llevado a cabo utilizando bases de datos tales como Web of Science utilizando
las palabras clave “Irrigation Ponds”, “Artificial Ponds” y “Biodiversity”. Una vez
analizada dicha información se trata de determinar si las balsas de riego pueden ser
un refugio alternativo de la biodiversidad ante la desnaturalización de los humedales
naturales sin dejar de lado en ningún momento la finalidad misma por la que las balsas
han sido construidas.
[EN] As a consequence of the disappearance of natural wetlands, the idea that irrigation ponds can act as a alternative refugee for them has become increasingly important. In this literature review, we have reviewed the articles describing the potential of irrigation ponds as habitat. This review was carried out using databases such as Web of Science using the key words "Irrigation Ponds", "Artificial Ponds" and "Biodiversity". Once this information has been analyzed, the aim is to determine whether irrigation ponds can be an alternative refuge for biodiversity in the face of the denaturation of natural wetlands, without neglecting the very purpose for which the ponds were built.
