[EN] Cinematographic adaptations from a book to a novel are not always to everyone's taste. We can find them with references to the original novel, following the same story, or even extending it, as in the case of The Handmaid's Tale. This film adaptation not only tells the novel as Margaret Atwood wrote it, but goes further by extending the story and focusing on current issues. This paper aims to highlight the main differences between the original novel and the TV series, To do this, we will focus on the flashbacks as a comparative element and on what these past stories of each character contribute to the original story. To achieve this, we will set different objectives which will have to be fulfilled through the study in order to reach a conclusion.
