LA PROTECCIÓN DE LAS PERSONAS MAYORES EN EL SISTEMA INTERAMERICANO DE DERECHOS HUMANOS

Abstract

En este trabajo de investigación, se estudian los mecanismos de protección y garantías jurídicas que el Sistema Interamericano de Protección de los Derechos Humanos otorga a la personas mayores. Se analiza sus mecanismos de acceso, medidas para su cumplimiento y sus formas de control e inspección. Se lleva a examen la regulación de la capacidad jurídica que la Convención Interamericana sobre la Protección de los Derechos Humanos de las Personas mayores realiza sobre los tratamientos médicos y cuidados a largo plazo en la vejez. Por último, se detallan las diferentes decisiones de la Comisión Interamericana de Derechos Humanos respecto a violaciones de derechos de las personas mayores.

In this research work, the protection mechanisms and legal guarantees that the Inter-American System for the protection of human rights grants to older persons are studied. Its access mechanisms, measures for its compliance and its forms of control and inspection are analyzed.
