Resumen
Una de las tecnologías creadas para la reducción de emisiones contaminantes son los convertidores
catalíticos (o catalizadores), que se interponen en el flujo de gases de escape del motor. Las sustancias
catalizadoras, en contacto con los gases aceleran los procesos químicos de transformación de las emisiones
en otras con menor impacto ambiental o en la salud.
Este trabajo se enmarca en los trabajos de un grupo de investigación con el fin de optimizar el diseño
geométrico del sustrato. El objetivo de este trabajo es estudiar los parámetros fundamentales que
caracterizan a un catalizador, con el fin de diseñar, fabricar y probar un equipo en el que poder tanto
controlar como registrar estas variables significativas.
Además, se han utilizado dos prototipos de sustrato para compararlos geométricamente con un
catalizador comercial, utilizado como referencia. Se ha utilizado la relación entre pérdida de carga y
eficacia de oxidación para su comparación.
One of the technologies developed to reduce pollutant emissions are catalytic converters, which are placed in the engine exhaust gas flow. The catalyst substances, when in contact with the gases, accelerate the chemical processes that transform emissions into others with a lower environmental or health impact. This work is part of the research conducted by a research group aiming to optimize the geometric design of the substrate. The objective of this work is to examine the fundamental parameters that characterize a catalytic converter in order to design, manufacture, and test a device that can both control and record these significant parameters. Additionally, two substrate prototypes were used to compare them geometrically with a commercial catalyst used as a reference. The comparison was based on the relationship between pressure drop and oxidation efficiency.
