ANÁLISIS DE LAS VARIABLES QUE INTERVIENEN EN LA RELACIÓN ENTRE CLIMA DE SALUD FAMILIAR Y FELICIDAD SUBJETIVA

Abstract

[ES] En este estudio se analizan las relaciones entre el clima de salud familiar y la felicidad subjetiva considerando como potenciales variables mediadoras la práctica de actividad física y la función familiar. En el estudio participaron 63 familias de la provincia de Jaén (incluyendo padre, madre e hijo o hija de 12 a 24 años). Para la evaluación de las variables se empleó el instrumento Family Heath Climate for Physical Activity (FHC-PA); para la felicidad subjetiva se utilizó la Subjective Happiness Scale (SHS); la función familiar fue medida con el instrumento Adaptability, Partnership, Growth, Affection, and Resolve (APGAR) y la actividad física se evaluó mediante una pregunta de auto- informe. Mediante un path analysis se comprobó el ajuste del modelo estructural a los datos empleando el software EQS 6.4. El clima de salud familiar afectaba directa e indirectamente los niveles de felicidad subjetiva de las familias explicando un 29% de su varianza. Los efectos indirectos, a través de los niveles de función familiar y de actividad física también resultaron significativos. La única relación no significativa era la que relacionaba la función familiar con los niveles de actividad física. Los resultados muestran que un clima de salud familiar favorable incrementa los niveles de felicidad subjetiva, mejora la función familiar y aumenta las horas de actividad física.

[EN] This study analyses the relations between family health climate and subjective happiness considering physical activity and family function as potential mediating variables. The study involved 63 families in the province of Jaén (including father, mother and son or daughter aged 12 to 24 years). The Family Heath Climate for Physical Activity (FHC-PA) instrument was used to assess the variables; the Subjective Happiness Scale (SHS) was used for subjective happiness; family function was measured with the Adaptability, Partnership, Growth, Affection, and Resolve (APGAR) instrument; and physical activity was assessed by means of a self-report question. A path analysis checked the fit of the structural model to the data using EQS 6.4 software. The family health climate directly and indirectly affected the subjective happiness levels of the families, explaining 29% of their variance. Indirect effects, through levels of family function and physical activity, were also significant. The only non-significant relation was that between family function and physical activity levels. The results show that a positive family health climate increases levels of subjective happiness, improves family function and increases hours of physical activity.
