Paralinguistics and its use in Samuel Beckett´s Footfalls

Resumen
La comunicación no verbal tiene un papel muy importante en la interacción humana. Por lo tanto, el objetivo de este trabajo es conocer qué es la paralingüística y su relación con la comunicación no verbal. A continuación, se tratan los diferentes elementos de la paralingüística. Como ejemplo de todo ello, se centrará la atención en la lectura de la obra de teatro de Samuel Beckett, Footfalls. Además, se ofrecerá una breve contextualización histórica de la obra, en relación, por lo tanto, a las características del teatro del absurdo. Por último, se analizarán qué elementos no verbales aportan información en dicha obra, aparte del lenguaje verbal.
Non-verbal communication plays a very important role in human interaction. Hence, the purpose of the present work is to know what paralinguistics is and its relationship with non-verbal communication. Following this, the different elements and aspects of paralinguistics are dealt with. As an example of all this, attention is focused on the analysis of the play by Samuel Beckett, Footfalls. In addition, a historical contextualization of the play will be briefly presented, going through, therefore, the features of the theatre of the absurd. Finally, those non-verbal elements which provide information in the aforementioned work are analysed, apart from verbal language.
