THE ROLE OF MATERIALS IN THE CLIL CLASS

Abstract

[ES] Este trabajo explora el papel desempeñado por el rol de los materiales en los contextos educativos. El propósito de esta investigación es analizar los beneficios del uso de materiales en una clase bilingüe (CLIL/AICLE) y en una clase no bilingüe. Para responder al mismo, el marco teórico indaga entre los estudios de otros investigadores acerca del bilingüismo, multilingüismo, la metodología CLIL y la importancia de los materiales en una clase de Educación Primaria. La investigación propiamente dicha abarca el estudio de dos grupos de estudiantes, el grupo de estudiantes bilingües y otro grupo compuesto por los estudiantes no bilingües , ambos grupos del mismo colegio. El estudio estuvo centrado en si el rol de los materiales era importante en ambos grupos y si su utilización mejoraba el aprendizaje de las materias. Queríamos saber si los alumnos de bilingüe además de adquirir los contenidos de Ciencias Sociales y Ciencias Naturales mejoraba el nivel en lengua extranjera (inglés).

[EN] This paper explores the role of materials in educational contexts. The purpose of this research is to investigate the benefits of the use of materials in CLIL and monolingual class. To accomplish this objective, the theoretical framework looks into the findings of other researchers concerning bilingualism, multilingualism, CLIL and the importance of materials in Primary Education. The study encompasses the research of two groups of students, one composed of CLIL students and another composed of monolingual students, both groups of the same school. The study was focused on if the materials’ role was important in both groups and if it improves the learning of the subjects. We wanted to know if the CLIL students acquire the contents of the two subject studied that was Social Sciences and Natural Sciences and improve their level in English.
