Correspondence of the passive voice in English and Spanish: a corpus-based study

Abstract

Este TFG es un intento preliminar de estudiar la correspondencia de la voz pasiva en inglés y español. Combinando la teoría y la práctica, analizaremos las similaridades y diferencias que existen en el campo de la pasiva en las dos lenguas. Para esto, se llevará a cabo un análisis contrastivo con la ayuda de un corpus paralelo que ayudará a los estudiantes a reconocer sus fallos y, por lo tanto, corregirlos en el proceso de enseñanza.

This dissertation is a tentive attempt to study the correspondence of the passive voice in English and Spanish. Through the combination of theory and practice, the similarities and differencies in the scope of the passive voice in both languages will be explored. In order to do so, a contrastive analysis will be performed with the help of a parallel corpus which wil help learners to acknowledge their mistakes and, therefore, correct them during the acquisition process.
