Diversidad afectivo-sexual y homofobia en el ámbito deportivo

Abstract

[ES]La homofobia, entendida en sentido amplio como “el rechazo o discriminación dirigido a aquellas personas cuya orientación, identidad, apariencia o expresión de género no se ajusta a un modelo binario heteronormativo” (Elipe, 2019, p.117), ha sido y es un tema de preocupación en el mundo deportivo. Es sabido que la práctica del ejercicio físico reporta numerosos beneficios, tanto físicos como fisiológicos, y a nivel cognitivo y psicológico. Sin embargo, la homofobia y los estereotipos de género presentes en el ámbito deportivo, en ocasiones, provocan el rechazo de todo lo que se salga de ese binarismo y por lo tanto dificultan el acceso al deporte en las mismas condiciones de igualdad de ciertos colectivos, como el LGTBQ+. El principal objetivo del estudio fue constatar si el rechazo hacia la diversidad afectivo-sexual, el prejuicio hacia la homo y bisexualidad, y los estereotipos de género se dan, en el ámbito deportivo, en mayor medida que en otros ámbitos. Y además ver si hay diferencias en función del género y la orientación sexual. Para ello se ha desarrollado una investigación de corte transversal con una muestra total de 424 personas, de edades comprendidas entre los 18 y 63 años (M= 31,61; DT= 12,35). Los resultados mostraron una ausencia de asociación entre vinculación al deporte y las variables analizadas: actitudes negativas hacia la diversidad en el deporte, homofobia y estereotipos de género. Por otra parte, tanto el género como la orientación sexual, se asociaron con homofobia, mostrando las mujeres y el colectivo LGBTQ+ una actitud más positiva hacia la diversidad afectivo-sexual. Se discuten los resultados a la luz de la literatura científica previa. Palabras clave: Homofobia; deporte; colectivo LGTBQ+; diversidad afectivo-sexual; estereotipos de género.

Homophobia, understood in a broad sense as "the rejection or discrimination addressed to those whose orientation, identity, appearance or gender expression does not conform to a heteronormative binary model" (Elipe, 2019, p.117), has been and is a matter of concern in the world of sports. It is known that the practice of physical exercise brings numerous benefits, both physical and physiological, cognitive and psychological. However, homophobia and gender stereotypes reported in the field of sports periodically causes rejections of anything that goes beyond this binarism and therefore hinder access to sports under the same conditions of equality to certain groups such as LGTBQ+. The main objective of the study is to determine whether the rejection of sexual affective diversity, prejudice towards homo and bisexuality, and gender stereotypes occur in a greater extent in the field of sports than in other fields and also to report differences between gender and sexual orientation. To this end, a cross-sectional study has been carried out with a total sample of 424 people aged between 18 and 63 (M=31.61; TD=12.35). The results showed and absent of significant associations between people linked somehow to sports and the different analysed variables: negative attitude towards sexual diversity in sports, homophobia and gender stereotypes. On the other hand, both gender and sexual orientation were associated with homophobia, women and the LGBTQ+ group showed a more positive attitude towards affective-sexual diversity.
