Various external evaluations show that the students of our community are below the national average in some of the basic skills evaluated. In this context, we set out to delve into the textual competence of third cycle students from two schools in the province of Jaén. Three anonymous tests have been carried out. The result has been the poor competence of these students in written composition and good competence in textual comprehension.
