Resumen
[ES] Durante los siglos V y VI, la Hispania se convierte en destino de una serie de
pueblos germánicos que lucharán entre sí, y con la población hispanorromana, por el
control del territorio. Finalmente, aunque desde Bizancio los imperiales envían tropas
para intentar reconstruir el ImperiumRomanumen la Península, los visigodos lograrán
imponer su dominio en el siglo VII.
Paralelamente, el cristianismo vive un proceso imparable de expansión, hasta
culminar con la unidad religiosa operada con la conversión de Recaredo (a. 589),
generando un estado confesional católico. La relevancia alcanzada por este credo y sus
iglesias dará lugar a la proliferación de edificios dedicados al culto, generalmente
adaptaciones de la arquitectura tardorromana, así como al desarrollo del monacato, una
de cuyas formas más peculiares, el practicado en espacios rupestres artificiales, encontró
durante el período visigótico un momento de auge en ciertas zonas de la Península
Ibérica, entre ellas la región del Alto Guadalquivir.
[EN] During the 5th and 6th centuries, Hispania becomes the destination of a series of Germanic people that will figth each other and against Hispanic-Roman population for taking control of the territory. Finally, although the imperials send troops from Bizancio trying to rebuild the “Romanum Imperium” in the Peninsula, Visigothic people will impose his control in the 7th century. Concurrently, the Christianity live through an unstoppable process of expansion that culminate with the religious unity operated bythe conversion of Recaredo (y. 589) generating a Catholic confessional state. The relevance achieved by this creed and his churches gave raise to cult buildings proliferation, which were generally adaptations to the late-Roman architecture as well as to the monasticism develop, one of the most peculiar ways, which was practiced in artificial cave spaces, experiment a height during the Visigothic period in some areas of the Iberian Peninsula, among them the High Guadalquivir region.
