Génesis y decadencia del terrorismo en el seno del nacionalismo vasco radical: ETA y Guardia Civil.

Abstract

En este trabajo se pretende analizar la relación entre ETA, como organización terrorista, y la Guardia Civil, como uno de los brazos ejecutores del Estado español contra el terror, a la vez que víctima, en el periodo concreto desde el inicio de la Transición democrática al fin de ETA. Para ello, es conveniente moverse alrededor de los conceptos terrorismo, Guardia Civil, ETA y democracia. Para llevar a cabo esta labor, se realizará una revisión bibliográfica sobre el terrorismo de ETA en este periodo concreto, además de testimonios reales de las víctimas, sin olvidar los orígenes de la organización, con el fin de entender su peso sobre la sociedad civil, tanto vasca como española, así como poder vislumbrar el peso que ha tenido la Guardia Civil en la lucha contra el terrorismo y en la definitiva desarticulación de la banda terrorista a través de una lucha de desgaste sin cuartel.

This paper aims to analyse the relationship between ETA, as a terrorist organization, and the Guardia Civil, as one of the victims and executing arms of the Spanish State from the beginning of the Spanish democratic transition to the end of ETA. Thus, it is necessary to explore the concepts of terrorism, Guardia Civil, ETA and democracy. Hence, this paper will conduct a bibliographical review on the terrorist action of ETA within this specific period, along with real testimonies of victims. Furthermore, the origins of the terrorist group will be examined, in order to understand the burden of ETA on both Spanish and Basque society, as well as to apprehend the importance of the Guardia Civil in fighting terrorism and the full disbandment of ETA through a ruthless war of attrition.
