La reflexión científica acerca de la función de personal se remonta, cuando más, a finales del siglo XIX y en poco más de cien años se han sucedido tres grandes corrientes de pensamiento: la escuela de la Organización Científica del Trabajo, la escuela de las Relaciones Humanas y la escuela de los Sistemas. La Gestión de Recursos Humanos en la actualidad, es uno de los principales retos a los que ha de enfrentarse la dirección de empresas y esto se debe a la importancia que el factor humano ha adquirido para la competitividad y buen funcionamiento de las organizaciones. Por otra parte, la dirección del capital humano es cada vez más compleja como consecuencia de los cambios sociales, económicos y tecnológicos que se han producido en el entorno empresarial en las últimas décadas. En consecuencia, es imprescindible que el alumnado de Economía de la Empresa adquiera los conocimientos básicos sobre la Gestión de Recursos Humanos.
Scientific reflection on the personnel function goes back, in the late nineteenth century and in just over a hundred years there have been three big schools of thought: the school of the Scientific Organization of Work, school of Human Relations and school Systems. Management of Human Resources is currently one of the main challenges, which direction of companies has to face. This is due to the importance of the human factor has acquired for competitiveness and functioning of organizations. Moreover, the management of human capital is becoming increasingly complex as a result of social, economic and technological changes that have been occurred in the business environment in recent decades. Consequently, it is imperative that students of Business Economics acquire basic knowledge of Human Resource Management.
