El mito de Faetón en ediciones ilustradas de la Metamorfosis de Ovidio (siglos XVI y XVII)

Abstract

[ES]En este estudio trataremos la figura de Faetón a través del relato realizado por Ovidio en las Metamorfosis. Esta obra de Ovidio gozó de una gran difusión en los siglos XVI y XVII, motivo por el cual se publicaron numerosas ediciones impresas. En este trabajo nos centraremos en algunas ediciones que incluyeron ilustraciones del mito de Faetón. Con las ilustraciones realizaremos un análisis iconográfico para entender los elementos más importantes del mito de Faetón.

[EN]In this study we will treat the figure of Phaeton through the story made by Ovid in the Metamorphoses. This literary work of Ovid enjoyed a great diffusion in the centuries XVI and XVII, reason for which was published numerous printed editions. In this study we will focus on some editions that included illustrations from the myth of Phaeton. With the illustrations we will make an iconographic analysis to understand the most important elements of the myth of Phaeton.
