(ES)La malnutrición es un problema global, especialmente en países en desarrollo del hemisferio sur. En 2016,
155 millones de niños menores de 5 años sufrían retraso en el crecimiento y 41 millones tenían sobrepeso u
obesidad. Este estudio se enfoca en el estado nutricional de niños y adolescentes del pueblo Añú en
Sinamaica, Venezuela. En este estudio el objetivo fue conocer el estado nutricional de los estudiantes de la
etnia Añú en las escuelas nacionales de la laguna de Sinamaica. Se realizó un estudio descriptivo con 452
estudiantes Añú de 5 a 15 años, evaluando la prevalencia de malnutrición según criterios de la Organización
Mundial de la Salud. Se encontró que el 25% presentaba algún grado de desnutrición. Se observó una mayor
prevalencia de malnutrición en niños, y las niñas tuvieron un factor protector. No se encontró una relación
significativa entre la edad y el estado nutricional.

In 2016, 155 million children under the age of 5 suffered from growth retardation, and 41 million were overweight or obese. This study focuses on the nutritional status of children and adolescents from the Añú community in Sinamaica, Venezuela. The objective of this study was to understand the nutritional status of Añú students in national schools located in the Sinamaica lagoon. A descriptive study was conducted with 452 Añú students aged 5 to 15 years, evaluating the prevalence of malnutrition based on criteria set by the World Health Organization. It was found that 25% of the students had some degree of malnutrition. There was a higher prevalence of malnutrition in boys, while girls had a protective factor. No significant relationship was found between age and nutritional status.
