EFECTOS PSICOLÓGICOS DEL USO DE LAS REDES SOCIALES Y SUS CORRELATOS NEUROBIOLÓGICOS

Resumen
El surgimiento de las redes sociales como Facebook e Instagram ha supuesto una nueva forma de
comunicación, especialmente entre los adolescentes. Resulta importante estudiar la influencia de esta
nueva y extendida forma de comunicación sobre la cognición, la emoción y la personalidad de los
individuos. En el presente trabajo, se revisan las principales investigaciones publicadas acerca del efecto
del uso de las redes sociales sobre variables tales como la autoestima, la cognición social, la motivación,
etc. Posteriormente, se revisan los estudios que se han realizado con objeto de examinar los mecanismos
neurobiológicos implicados en cualquier tipo de comunicación social a través de las redes. Finalmente, se
incluye una pequeña reflexión acerca de la importancia de tener en cuenta los posibles efectos del uso de
las redes sociales recogidos en este trabajo, y la necesidad de concienciar, o incluso poner en marcha
estrategias, para evitar que unos números a través de las redes sociales nos definan como personas.
The emergence of social networks such as Facebook and Instagram have brought with them a new way of communication, especially among teenagers.It is important to investigate the influence of this new and extended communication method on the cognition, the emotion and the personality of individuals. In the present work it is reviewed the main research publications effects caused by social networks on variables such as self-esteem, social cognition, motivation, etc. Subsequently, it is reviewed the studies that have been carried out in order to examine the neurobiological mechanisms involved in any type of social communication through networks. Finally, it is included a small reflection about the importance of keeping it in mind the possible effects of the use of social networks reviewed above, and the need to raise the awareness and the implementation of preventive strategies. Social network metrics should not define.
