EL RETRATO EN LA ROMA IMPERIAL

Abstract

[ES] El estudio de la iconografía del arte romano refleja la complejidad y la gran cantidad de variantes que se localizan en las manifestaciones artísticas clásicas. Algunas figuras y escenas son especialmente significativas porque a través de su conocimiento permiten revelar una parte de la realidad romana que tan sólo a través del arte puede llegar a ser comprendido. El objetivo de este trabajo es, desde una perspectiva histórica delimitada –roma imperial-, definir y describir la evolución del retrato romano como forma de expresión artística y la influencia que el mismo tuvo en el contexto histórico-social de la Roma antigua. Como elemento esencial en la cultura romana y gran contribución artística, su estudio permite mostrar la dimensión humana de sus habitantes, incluyendo sus clases sociales, así como generar modos de conocimiento de la sociedad antigua como un todo en la que el arte tiene un claro papel estructurador, perpetuando así su memoria hasta nuestros días.

[EN] The study of the iconography of the Roman art reflects the complexity and the great quantity of variants that are located in the artistic classic manifestations. Some figures and scenes are especially significant because across his knowledge they allow to reveal a part of the Roman reality that only across the art can manage to be included. The aim of this work is, from a historical delimited perspective -blunt imperial-, to describe and to define the Roman portrait as a form of artistic expression, since it was an essential element in the Roman culture and a great artistic contribution, which showed the human dimension of his inhabitants, including his social classes. Following the own dictations of modes of the Empire, perpetuating this way his memory. For, later, generate conclusions and manners of knowledge of the ancient company as everything in that the art has a clear paper.
