estudios revisados.
(EN) Oral contraceptives (OC) are the most used by the female population, however, the effect of these on the CNS and the consequent implication on behavior, emotion and cognition have been left out of the investigation. Therefore, the objective of the Final Degree Project has been to gather the most current studies on the structural changes in the brain associated with the use of OCs. A total of 7 articles have been reviewed, from the PubMed and Scopus databases. The findings obtained show that the structural changes in the cerebral cortex are influenced by the component of progesterone (androgenic or antiandrogenic), the time of previous use of the contraceptive and the age of the user. Progress in this line of research is confirmed, although some methodological limitations of the studies reviewed are discussed.
