[ES]Introducción: Las úlceras por presión, son hoy en día, un problema de salud importante, porque actúan
negativamente en la calidad de vida de los pacientes y pueden producir su mortalidad. Esto, provoca la
necesidad de tratar este problema poniendo en conocimiento las medidas preventivas y terapéuticas
adecuadas. La utilización de ácidos grasos es una de las herramientas para evitar o disminuir este problema.
Objetivo: El objetivo general de este trabajo consiste en analizar la evidencia que existe sobre la efectividad
que producen los ácidos grasos en la prevención y/o tratamiento de las UPP. Material y métodos: El diseño
del estudio es una búsqueda sistemática, esta búsqueda ha sido realizada en bases de datos como Cinahl,
Scopus, Cuiden, y Lilacs. El nivel de evidencia de los artículos ha sido determinado por la escala CASPe.
Resultados: Los resultados obtenidos se obtuvieron de los 6 artículos que se seleccionaron tras cumplir los
criterios de inclusión. Estos han evidenciado el efecto positivo del uso de los ácidos grasos como medida de
prevención y/o tratamiento de las UPP. Conclusiones: Todos los estudios evidencian que existen beneficios
tras el uso rutinario de los ácidos grasos ya que disminuyen los síntomas originados por las úlceras por
presión.

[EN]Introduction: Pressure ulcers are, today, a major health problem, because they act negatively on the quality of life of patients and can cause mortality. This causes the need to treat this problem, making known the appropriate preventive and therapeutic measures. The use of fatty acids is one of the tools to avoid or reduce this problem. Objective: The general objective of this work is to analyze the evidence that exists on the effectiveness of fatty acids in the prevention and / or treatment of UPP. Material and methods: The study design is a systematic search, this search has been performed in databases such as Cinahl, Scopus, Cuiden, and Lilacs. The level of evidence of the articles has been determined by the CASPe scale. Results: The results obtained were obtained from the 6 articles that were selected after meeting the inclusion criteria. These have evidenced the positive effect of the use of fatty acids as a measure of prevention and / or treatment of UPP. Conclusions: All the studies show that there are benefits after the routine use of fatty acids since they reduce the symptoms caused by pressure ulcers.
