The following work deals with the study of Freemasonry in contemporary times, essentially in the 19th century. Freemasonry, here analyzed, is of the speculative type, which was consolidated with the promulgation of the Anderson Declarations (1723) during the Enlightenment. In the wake of the French Revolution, the development of speculative Freemasonry was going to go one step further, and its precepts, in some countries, were going to seem contradictory in the face of Freemasonry increasingly committed and involved in different areas of social, political life or religious, which was going to cause that, without ceasing to be a fraternal association of freethinkers, it had a very iron stance and very clear slogans regarding aspects, which we will discuss below. Therefore, in this sense, the 19th century is going to be one of the most exciting and moving centuries in the history of Freemasonry.
