Las fortificaciones Almohades del Alto Guadalquivir: El Recinto Amurallado de Andújar

Abstract

El presente trabajo va enfocado al estudio íntegro del antiguo conjunto amurallado de la ciudad de Andújar que fue edificado durante la Edad Media, con el objetivo de conocer su origen y su paulatina transformación. Con este fin, se expondrán los hechos históricos que contribuyeron a la construcción de dicho conjunto. Por otro lado, se establecerá una distinción entre los elementos que conformaban la muralla inicial, datada en época Emiral, de aquellos otros que fueron introducidos posteriormente entre los siglos XI y XIII. Con todos estos, ahondaremos en el análisis de sus técnicas constructivas y estableceremos una precisa delimitación del perímetro mural a la vez que lo compararemos con otros elementos fortificados edificados en su entorno geográfico, con el objetivo de enmarcarlo dentro del contexto histórico de este territorio.The present work is focused on the integral study of the old walled complex of the city of Andújar that was built during the Middle Ages, with the aim of knowing its origin and its gradual transformation. To this end, the historical facts that contributed to the construction of this group will be exposed. On the other hand, a distinction will be made between the elements that formed the initial wall, dated in the Emiral period, of those others that were later introduced between the eleventh and thirteenth centuries. With all these, we will delve into the analysis of its constructive techniques and establish a precise delimitation of the mural perimeter while comparing it with other fortified elements built in its geographical evironment, with the aim of framing it within the historical context of tihs territory
