The influence of English on the Spanish lexicon: An analysis of the anglicisms in the last three versions of the 23rd edition of the DLE

Abstract

(ES) This End of Degree Project (henceforth, EDP) is aimed at illustrating the influence of English on the Spanish lexicon through an analysis of the anglicisms included in the last three versions of the Diccionario de la lengua española (henceforth, DLE). In order to fulfil this purpose, this paper contains an extensive theoretical framework that will first deal with the influence of English on other languages. Then, there will be a section devoted to the DLE. Thirdly, for the sake of clarity, the present EDP will discuss a wide range of key terms: “neologisms”, “borrowings”, “loanwords”, “anglicisms”, “loan blends”, and “calques”. After these theoretical sections, an analysis of the anglicisms in the 23.3, 23.4, and 23.5 versions of the DLE will be provided. Finally, the conclusions that can be drawn will be included at the end of this academic paper together with the bibliography.

(EN) Este Trabajo de Fin de Grado (a partir de ahora, TFG) tiene por objetivo ilustrar la influencia del inglés en el léxico español mediante un análisis de los anglicismos incluidos en las tres últimas versiones del Diccionario de la lengua española (a partir de ahora, DLE). Para conseguir este propósito, este trabajo contiene un extenso marco teórico que empezará con la influencia del inglés en otras lenguas. Después, habrá una sección dedicada al DLE. En tercer lugar, en aras de la claridad, en este TFG se discutirán una amplia variedad de términos esenciales: “neologismos”, “préstamos”, “extranjerismos”, “anglicismos”, “combinación de extranjerismos” y “calcos semánticos”. Después de los apartados teóricos, se proporcionará un análisis de los anglicismos en las versiones 23.3, 23.4 y 23.5 del DLE. Finalmente, las conclusiones que pueden obtenerse se incluirán al final de este trabajo académico junto con la bibliografía.
