[EN]In modern Spanish and Green reality, the phenomenon of the migration crisis in Europe is an everyday press issue. Press discourse produced in both countries tries to reflect the social reality and inform the public about it, while, at the same time, it influences readers’ social perception by applying a kind of control on their opinions and ideologies. By identifying the pragmatic strategies, the non-explicit communication objectives as well as the ideological background of the Spanish and Greek press discourse we can be lead, on the one hand, to specific conclusions about the mechanics that both countries use in press with the purpose of applying social control according to its ideological background. On the other hand, it enables us to realize a comparison in order to identify whether that kind of control is applied by using similar or not mechanics in the two countries.
