THE EFFECTIVENESS OF ASSISTANTS TO IMPROVE FOREIGN LANGUAGE DEVELOPMENT IN EDUCATION

Resumen
[ES] El estudio tiene como objetivo evaluar las percepciones de los estudiantes, profesores y Auxiliar de conversación para confirmar la hipótesis de que los Auxiliares de conversación tienen un impacto positivo en el aprendizaje de lenguas extranjeras, en concreto en aspectos relacionados con las competencias sociocultural, gramática, léxica y fonológica, así como en la motivación y confianza de los estudiantes cuando se trata de usar el idioma extranjero. La metodología usada consiste en la entrega de cuestionarios (escala Likert y respuesta abierta) a dicho triángulo de muestras. Las conclusiones muestran que la presencia del Auxiliar beneficia sin duda el aprendizaje de una lengua extranjera, en concreto algunos de los aspectos más que otros, como son los relacionados con las competencias fonéticas y léxicas, así como el aumento de la motivación entre el alumnado.
[EN] This research aims to evaluate the perceptions of students, teachers and language assistant to confirm the hypothesis that language assistants have a positive impact on foreign language learning, in concrete in aspects related to the sociocultural, grammatical, lexical and phonological competences as well as the increase of students' motivation and confidence when dealing with a foreign language. The followed methodology is based on questionnaires (Likert scale and open answer) designed for the triangulation of samples. The conclusions show that the presence of a language assistant undoubtedly benefits the learning of a foreign language, in particular sorne aspects more than others, such as those related with the lexical and phonological competences as well asan increase in the students' motivation.
