Enterococos intestinales

Abstract

Los enterococos intestinales son microorganismos bastante ubicuos que forman parte de la microbiota intestinal de los humanos. La facilidad con la que estos microorganismos adquieren resistencias a antibióticos sumado a la gran capacidad que poseen para sobrevivir en cualquier ambiente, ha ocasionado serios problemas de salud, principalmente en personas hospitalizadas. En esta revisión se expondrán distintos artículos relacionados con el tema a través de los cuales se extraerán las principales conclusiones. Todos estos estudios se centran en la resistencia a antibióticos y los genes de virulencia del género Enteroccocus en la ruta oral-fecal, pues caracterizándolos lo mejor posible podemos aumentar el abanico de posibilidades a la hora de responder frente a infecciones por estos enterococos y sobre todo, evitar que se produzcan mediante un control más estricto sobre los alimentos y los animales, pues son importantes reservorios de enterococos patógenos para el ser humano.

Intestinal enterococci are a very ubiquitous microorganism that are part of the human gut microbiota. The ability of these microorganism to acquire several antibiotic resistances and their capacity to survive in any environment has occasioned several health problems, principally in hospitalized people. This review will show different articles related to this theme in order to extract the principal conclusions. All of them focus in the virulence genes and antibiotic resistance of the Enterococcus genus in the oral-fecal route with the purpose of characterize all of them in order to increase the posible treatments against infections caused by enterococci and, specially, avoid them with a strict control over food and animals, which are important reservoirs of pathogenic enterococci for humans.
