La esquizofrenia es una enfermedad mental grave que afecta en que una persona piensa, siente y
se comporta. Se caracteriza por síntomas como alucinaciones o delirios. En el abordaje de la
esquizofrenia, el Trabajo Social desempeña un papel importante, los/as Trabajadores/as Sociales
realizan evaluaciones para comprender las necesidades de los pacientes, así como su entorno
familiar y social. A partir de esta evaluación, diseñan e implementan planes de intervención
individualizados que abordan aspectos médicos, psicológicos y sociales.
Los/as Trabajadores/as Sociales brindan apoyo tanto a las personas con esquizofrenia como a sus
familias, ayudándoles a comprender la enfermedad, manejar los síntomas y tratamiento. También
se centran en fortalecer la autonomía de los pacientes y fomentar su inclusión social, facilitando
su integración en la comunidad, el acceso a empleo. Además se trabaja para promover la igualdad
de oportunidades, combatir el estigma y la discriminación asociados a la enfermedad mental
