The role that women have played in Ancient History has been predominantly underrepresented and depicted in a scarce and distorted manner in the film genre, using their presence to spin stories around male protagonists. This study examines the lives of six women who lived in classical antiquity to unravel the truth about their influence, not only in their personal lives but also in society, politics, and subsequent historical events. It contrasts their portrayal in scientific sources with the liberties taken by peplum cinema in depicting them.
