Resumen
Este trabajo tiene como finalidad analizar la depresión y sus características haciendo hincapié en el
ámbito social. Tras realizar una revisión bibliográfica se pretende enumerar la cantidad y calidad de los
recursos públicos destinados a esta enfermedad en España, así como adentrarse en el papel del trabajo
social, analizando sus funciones y las áreas en las que se desarrollan. El diagnóstico de la depresión es
el primer paso para una intervención adecuada y por ello debe de ser exacto. Para realizarlo existen
diferentes herramientas específicas que facilitan la labor del profesional. Por último, se busca valorar
el nivel de concienciación de la población sobre el tema con el fin de realizar una correcta intervención
de carácter social. Se ha comprobado la mayor prevalencia en mujeres y las consecuencias que trae
consigo esta enfermedad, así como la escasez de recursos en determinados ámbitos.
This work aims to analyze depression and its characteristics emphasizing the social sphere. After carrying out a bibliographic review, it is intended to list the quantity and quality of public resources aimed at this disease in Spain, as well as to delve into the role of social work, by analyzing its functions and the areas in which these activities are carried out. To diagnose depression accurately is the first step to perform a proper intervention. To do it, there are different specific tools that facilitate the professional's work. Finally, it is claimed to assess the level of awareness of the population on the disease in order to carry out an adequate social intervention. Has been noted a higher prevalence of this disease in women, as well as the consequences that it involves. Furthermore, it has been observed the shortage of resources in certain settings.
