World Englishes: Making the most of differences between varieties of English in the EFL classroom

(ES)Actualmente, las conexiones internacionales, y con ellas, los contextos comunicativos internacionales
están aumentando progresivamente, especialmente mediante el uso del inglés, que se considera como el
principal idioma internacional. Los actuales estudiantes de educación secundaria deben estar preparados
para las situaciones de comunicación internacionales en las que posiblemente tengan que interactuar en
el futuro con hablantes de diferentes variedades de inglés. El objetivo de este trabajo es la enseñanza del
inglés en situaciones reales. Por esta razón, el concepto de World Englishes junto con una selección
variedades del inglés se analizan con el fin de crear una propuesta didáctica basada en la diversidad
lingüística y cultural.
(EN)Nowadays, worldwide networking, and, with it, worldwide communication contexts are increasingly rising, particularly through the use of the English language, which is considered to be the most important international language. Students at secondary school, need to be prepared to deal with international communication situations in the future, in which they are like to interact with speakers of different varieties of English. The aim of this work is to focus on English teaching in real-life situations. For this reason, the concept of World Englishes along with a selection of some varieties of English are analysed with a view to proposing a didactic unit based on linguistic and cultural diversity.
