The aim of the present final project is to explore the brain areas which are activated while we are feeling a religious experience. First, we are going to delimit the concept “religious experience”, then we will go trough a serie of researches where we would find out, across neuroimaging techniques, the regions of the brain that it has a higher activity during the pray or another task which evoke feelings and emotions that are common in this type of experience. In addition to, we talk about another research where the subjects are given a psychoactive substance. Finally, we reflect on the relationship between the different substratums and the religious experiences, moreover, we discuss future directions of the researches and their possible applications.
