[EN]This study reviews Corporate Social Responsibility with special emphasis on the environmental dimension in order to analyze the alleged fraud case of the Volkswagen Group. For this purpose, several CSR manuals have been considered with the aim of ensuring the understanding of the conceptual framework and highlighting elementary environmental regulations. Subsequently, examining the most polluting industries, the automotive sector has been highlighted and the Group’s CSR policy has been reviewed to establish the points of interest. Finally, information has been gathered from various newspapers to refute the company’s environmental commitment and the consequences have been reflected for Volkswagen in terms of its sales and brand image. As a result, there is a lack of coherence between Volkswagen CSR policies and its final actions on this respect, concluding that its CSR policy is not aligned with its performance and therefore its actions are not socially responsible.
